Laura + Mitchell's Sodus Bay Wedding, July 2015 | Rochester NY Wedding Photographer
Laura and Mitchell were more than high school sweethearts, they were childhood sweethearts, having met in the 1st grade. Through high school, Mitchell's service in the Navy and Laura's attending school to be a marine biologist, they stuck together and had a intimate ceremony on the shores of Lake Ontario in Sodus Bay, where they grew up. I met Mitchell through the Civil Air Patrol at a summer encampment.
The day started with a touching, private vow-reading (and first look) to each other in front of immediate family at Laura's childhood home. The public ceremony and reception were at Dockers (the location of their high school senior prom), with a side trip to Chimney Bluffs State Park for some scenic photos. A good time and some good food was had by all. plus I got to see some old friends, which is always the icing on the cake.
A little wind wouldn't stop them ;)
Grandma was determined to make it to the wedding.. in her words, "even if they had to roll me in an ambulance, I was going to be here!" It was a treasure to see how much joy it brought her.
After the ceremony, we went down to Chimney Bluffs and the lake shore to do some portraits
A scan of the beautiful portrait taken with instant / polaroid film. Laura and Mitchell were stoked when they got the print :)
Cake cutting!
Their love really showed through during the first dance.. you could see how much they simply enjoyed each others' company.
Laura danced with her brother for the father-daughter dance, as their father had passed away years ago. It was touching to see.
Fist bump to end the night!
Thank you for the honor of documenting your wedding day.
