Kelly + Sterling's Jamaica Wedding, May 2014 | International Destination Wedding Photography
Kelly was a long time fan of Andrew Welsh Photography, before she was even engaged. As soon as she met her perfect match in Sterling, she commissioned me to document her wedding day at the Sandals resort in Negril, Jamaica for her small destination wedding. Greeted with a smile and warm, friendly service, the gorgeous scenery was just the tip of the iceberg for the awesomeness of their unique event.
I love astrophotography- it's how I got started in photography- so naturally I had to sneak in a shot. These are stars that one literally does not see in the United States (except Hawaii).. For reference, Scorpio is on the far left edge, and this is facing south.
After meeting their friends and family, we headed over to a rehearsal dinner at Rick's cafe, featuring some cliff divers and very tasty jerk chicken. Soon the festivities ended and we retired to our rooms. The next day the preparations and ceremony began. Here is the beach in infrared:

Kelly's hair had a little too much hairspray, so she brushed it out and recurled her hair. While most brides would've freaked out, she was very chill about the whole process. It helped that an afternoon rain put a pause on the outdoor ceremony.

The rain was relentless, delaying the ceremony further.
There is a local law that makes any weddings after 6pm invalid, but discussions on having the ceremony the next day were quickly dismissed. The weather did break right in time for the ceremony to start at 5:50 :)
Holding it together :)
Perfect weather for a beach sunset wedding in Jamaica
Awesome sunset light for beach wedding portraits
Bustled dress for the nighttime intimate reception on the beach.
Perfect weather and a beautiful setup.

We had some time for some creative "day after" portraits at the Sandals resort. I took advantage of my underwater photography skills and Kelly's mom's generous gift of a private sunset cruise to make some authentic and unique portraits for Kelly and Sterling.
Sterling's brother Lawton was imitating Sterling's gestures :)
Enjoying her cruise
Lawton is driving the boat?!?
Joking aside, I leave you with these two...
Thank you for trusting me to document your Jamaica wedding (coming all the way from Rochester NY) Kelly and Sterling.
